A project aimed at dealing with the problems of large and complex
retrieval sets, possible from multiple databases, obtained via the
Z39.50 protocol. The trial service allows cross-searching of at least 12
university library catalogues, using Z39.50 from within a Web browser.

Library originally accumulated by Benjamin Britten (1913-1976) and
Peter Pears (1910-1986). Includes collections of manuscript and printed
music, books on a wide range of subjects, sound and video recordings,
photographs, and archives of letters, ephemera and papers of
organisations with which Britten and Pears were closely associated. An
electronic catalogue of holdings indexed to date is available for
searching online.

A consortium established in 1992 to develop co-operative information
services in support of teaching and research in the five member

European Commission Library. Information is retrieved by basic or

630 ISIS: National Agricultural Library catalogue
ISIS contains current bibliographic citations for books, reports,
maps, journals and periodicals, audio-visuals, CD-ROMs, software, and
other materials added to NAL collections since 1966. ISIS also contains
Agricola journal article citations.

The jake (Jointly Administered Knowledge Environment) comprises a
searchable collection of database indices and journal citations held
within them. Based on volume number, issue, page, and year, the

The Newcastle Literary and Philosophical Society was founded in 1793

The Media Resources Center (MRC) is the UC Berkeley Library’s
primary collection of materials in electronic non-print (audio and

Contains entries for published and unpublished recordings held by
the British Library. Material covers various genres including pop, jazz,

Resource offering an online catalogue of the North West Film
Archive’s moving image collection, searchable by subject category, or by

A search engine for piano teachers and students, as well as
performing pianists. As a reference source for classical piano
repertoire and a means of identifying for new works to learn or perform,
Pianopedia may be searched by composer, nationality, piece title,
duration, key/mode, date, and work type (piano solo, two pianos, piano
and orchestra, piano four hands, or piano transcriptions).

Resource providing access to a collection of peer reviewed journal
literature in the physical sciences and other energy related
disciplines. Viewing of citations and abstracts is freely available, but
charges are made for full text articles. Searches can be conducted by
entering a keyword or phrase, or by selecting a contributing publisher.

Database of quotations which can be searched by keyword, subject, or
author. Entries can also be browsed by categories including insults,
criticism, marriage, literature, war, and drinking, and random quotes

020 SALSER: Scottish Academic Libraries Serials
SALSER is a Web-based union catalogue of serials holdings in all 13
Scottish universities, the municipal research libraries of Edinburgh and
Glasgow, numerous smaller Scottish research libraries and the National
Library of Scotland. Through SALSER, users can not only discover which
serials are held where, they can also connect to the participating
libraries’ Online Public Access Catalogues (OPACs).

Bibliographic records for science fiction books, journals, and
periodicals, searchable by author/editor, title, or subject. A full
explanation of the classification scheme used within the library is
provided.
820 Scottish Poetry Library
Provides access to an online catalogue searchable by title, author,
keyword, or subject, as well as more specialised catalogues containing
records of the library’s audio, Braille, and large print material. A
selection of Scottish poetry is browsable by poet, and users are invited
to enter some memorable phrases or lines of a poem into the ‘Lost for
Words’ service, which Poetry Library staff will then attempt to trace.

An interactive system offering details of research resources held by
the Institution’s libraries, archives, and research units. Provides
access to the Freer Gallery of Art Library with examples of Asian art,
photographic archives comprising the Peter A Juley and Son Collection,
and Smithsonian Chronology listing significant events in the history of
the Smithsonian Institution.

Collection of past exam papers from Strathclyde University,
browsable by department and exam title, and searchable by keyword. As a
pilot project, online papers are restricted to 1999 at present.
